This nine-storey apartment building in Mackay required a new waterproofing facade system of approximately 2,000 square metres - including new windows. The retrofitted facade consisted of James Hardie ExoTec facade panels, which were fixed to steel battens over a waterproof membrane.
The structural engineering consultants from Flanagan Consulting Group and Sydney-based main contractor Polyseal Waterproofing Pty Ltd chose Hilti HUS-HF 10x80 and HUS-HF 10x100 hot-dipped galvanised screw anchors for fixing the steel battens to the existing Dincel wall. For all windows on the building, Hilti HUS-HR stainless steel screw anchors were selected.
Our HUS screw anchors were chosen for this project because of their excellent load rating on the existing wall system (containing regular 30 millimetre voids) as well as their corrosion resistance, essential for this seaside location. The fast and simple installation process of our screw anchors results in huge time and cost savings when fixing in excess of 50,000 anchor points, which was another important deciding factor in choosing Hilti products for this construction.
