HEINRICH FISCHER NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF THE HILTI GROUP

Schaan (FL), April 5, 2017 – Following today’s Annual General Meeting of Hilti Corporation, Heinrich Fischer will assume the Office of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hilti Group, effective April 6, 2017. His predecessor Pius Baschera will stay on the Board of Directors as member und will take over as Speaker of the Martin Hilti Family Trust, sole shareholder of Hilti Corporation.

Heinrich Fischer who will assume the office of Chairman after having served as member of the Board of Directors for ten years, intends to expedite the achievement of the Group’s strategic objectives as his first priority. “I am convinced that we are already well-positioned today to successfully implement our Champion 2020 Strategy, to grow substantially and to generate sustainable value through differentiation and market leadership. To help shape this journey as Chairman of the Board of Directors is a gratifying and challenging task that I am very much looking forward to.”

Raised in Neuhausen, Switzerland, Heinrich Fischer graduated in Electrical Engineering and Technical Physics at ETH Zurich in 1973. Subsequently and parallel to employment, he studied Business Administration at the University of Zurich. In 1977, he joined Oerlikon Bührle Holding, then worked for Balzers AG (1980 to 1989) and returned to Oerlikon Holding (1990 to 1995) in executive management functions. From 1996 to 2007, he was Chief Executive Officer of Saurer AG, Arbon, Switzerland. Currently, Heinrich Fischer is member of the Board of Directors of Tecan AG, of Orell Füssli AG (Chairman) and Sensirion AG.
