The spacing of existing anchor and new anchor

Hi,

Just wondering, does Hilti have any minimum requirements for the spacing between an existing Hilti anchor and a new Hilti anchor? The existing anchor is HY200 + M12 HAS 5.8. The new HY200 + M12 HAS 5.8 will be installed next to it.

Regards,
Steven

Hi Steven,

Thank you for contacting Hilti.

There are 2 potential scenarios here:

  1. Old anchor is not loaded, where you might be able to ignore it when designing the new anchor as the old one is not loaded.
  2. Old anchor is loaded: what you can do here is perform an anchor design using both old and new anchors in the same design while considering the spacing between them and the loads applied to both anchors. The minimum spacing required for an M12 rod with HY 200-R V3 is 60mm (as shown under Table B2 on page 15 of the approval document ETA 19/0601). You would have to ensure that the projected concrete cones from both anchors don't overlap, or else you would expect a reduction in the concrete capacity for both of them.

Having said that, conducting a complete anchor design using Profis Engineering would give you the complete picture, given that you provide all of the required parameters for both the old and new anchors.

I hope this helps.
