Hi Stephen,
Thank you for contacting Hilti.
There are three important things to consider when determining the service life of anchors in challenging environments:
- Chemical resistance to substances: please refer to the attached image for the chemical resistance of HY 200 in contact with multiple components. It's important to highlight that the table relates to influence of the substances at up to 35°C and if several chemicals are mixed/combined the resistance might differ.
- Creep over time: HY 200 V4 is tested for 100 years working life against creep according to the European Assessment Document EAD 330499-0601 (access from EOTA website > EAD 330499-02-0601). The ETA approval for anchoring applications with 100 years working life capacity can be found here > ASSET_DOC_11504013.pdf
- Corrosion of threaded rod: the service life based on corrosion assessment needs to be done comparing the corrosion resistance of the threaded rod material selected (i.e. carbon steel, HDG, SS or HCR) and the environment corrosivity. You can find supporting information in Hilti's Corrosion Handbook (Corrosion-handbook-Documentation-ASSET-DOC-14090911.pdf). Please refer to section 5.1. for some guidance on how to select the right corrosion protection for anchors.
I hope the above is helpful, but please reach out to our technical support team if you need assistance for a specific project/situation here >> Technical Advice Services - Hilti Australia
Kind regards,
