Reinforced blockwork anchors

Reinforced blockwork anchors

Hi All,

I have reviewed HY200 and HY270 The masonry units and the limiting factors for HJ270 appear to be the physical unit shell failing. There is no option to make allowance made for reinforcement and grout in the wall. When looking at HY200 I could use the design site for the grout core and use a face offset but I am not sure if this would be a suitable representation of the scenario. The American site does give some guidance of capacities for core filled CMU but I am unsure on how to review factors of the American methods compared to Australia. I am looking for guidance on how to proceed with the design for chemical anchors into reinforced core filled blockwork walls.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for your question,

From your query i gather you are after information for use of HY200 in masonry block units like the core filled block. The HY200 is only approved for cracked and uncracked concrete as base material. Hence, HY200 is not available for selection on Profis Engineering – Masonry design. The go-to option for masonry design would be the HY270 or the HY170.

However as per your information, if you do have core filled blocks, the typical approach is to consider a low strength concrete base material in the concrete design module. There are a few different approached that can be made, depending specifically to your application.
