Recommended maximum deviation between CBFEM and rigid baseplate results

Hi there,
I was wondering if there were any recommendations on the maximum deviation between the results of the rigid baseplate analysis and CBFEM analysis in Hilti Profis or if it is purely down to engineering judgement.

Thankyou

Hi Blake,

Thanks for reaching out to Hilti.

When you design with CBFEM in PROFIS Engineering software and you click calculate, the result will show the final output with the actual design results. The results will be compared with the equivalent rigid plate analysis and the deviation will be shown.

It's usually the engineer’s engineering judgement in which he/she can decide how much force can be transferred through the anchors. Usually, it is a good practice to have deviation around 10% but at times this will depend upon the execution /fabrication/connection challenges.

Please note that all these suggestions are for the design which are passing in the analysis, if the connection fails in the CBFEM iteration run, then engineer has to make sure that all the components in design of the connection should pass then only the question of comparison with rigid equivalent design is valid.

I hope the above is helpful.

Kind Regards,
