Pull Testing Chemical Anchors

Do you know if there is any requirement under Australian Standard to provide pull testing of installed chemical anchors?

Hi Adam,

Thank you for contacting Hilti.

Although there are no specific requirements on Australian Standards for anchor onsite testing (or pull-out testing), we are aware of different governmental entities including the need of this testing in their internal procedures and guidelines. One example would be VicRoads.

There are also requirements coming from specific projects and designers.

In terms of how to perform onsite testing in Australia, please refer to the Australian Engineered Fasteners and Anchors Council (AEFAC) guidelines on Technical Note 5, volumes 1 to 4:
Microsoft Word - Site testing - Vol1 - Revised.docx (aefac.org.au)
Microsoft Word - Site testing - Vol2 - Revised.docx (aefac.org.au)
AEFAC-TN05-Site-testing-Vol3
Microsoft Word - Site testing - Vol4 - Revised.docx (aefac.org.au)

I hope the above is helpful, but please let us know if you have further questions.

Kind Regards,
