Hilti PROFIS - Load Factors

Hi,
Does Hilti PROFIS apply any ULS load factors to the loads or should we be inputting factored loads in the software?
There seems to be a capacity reduction factor of 0.6, and a concrete safety factor of 1.5, however I was under the impression that the inputted loads should be factored loads so would like to confirm.
Thanks

Hi Kaylah,

Thank you for your question. PROFIS Engineering in the case for design to Australian Standard, AS5216 does not apply any factors to the input load. Hence the load you would input in the software should be a factored.

The screenshot and the 0.6 & 1.5 safety factors you are referring to the below:

  1. 0.6 is relevant to the calculations on welding (when using the advanced baseplate analysis module). There will be two options here, either 0.8 or 0.6 which refer to SP or GP welds respectively
  2. The 1.5 safety factor is the factor used for the base material when calculating concrete relevant failure modes according to AS5216

I hope this helps!
