Hilti HIT-RE 500 installed using a bent anchor rod

Hi, I am looking at a possibility of using Hilti HIT-RE 200/500 to install an anchor with a bend into concrete for a post moment connection. Does Hilti have any experience or research to show that a bent anchor in tension works well in practice or is this not a recommended solution? How close does the capacity of a bent bar compare to that of a straight post installed anchor? Can the HAS-U 5.8/8.8 anchor rod be sourced from Hilti with a bend?

Hi Aameena,

Thank you for contacting Hilti!

Hilti anchors are tested and approved with straight bars that are perpendicular to the concrete's surface as shown in the relevant approval documents, or ETA documents (European Technical Assessments). Using anchors in different setups might be possible through engineering judgments specific to your application. Please call our customer service at 131 292 to request a call back from one of our engineers to discuss your application in more detail.

Best regards,
Ask Hilti Team.
