I'm reviewing pull out tests using the Hilti DPG100. How can it be used to load test concrete failure when the void in the spherical section of the housing appears to be only about 40mm. Does that mean the device could only reliably test anchors with a pull-out cone diameter less than 40mm, so nominally about 20mm embedment?
Hi Greg,
Thank you for reaching out to Hilti.
With DPG 100 you can test anchors from M6 to M24 sizes up to maximum of 100 KN. When testing with DPG 100, the confined test set up is followed which means only pull out failure is evaluated. A confined test setup is utilised for proof test of chemical fasteners to verify the correct bond has been achieved between the chemical and steel element or the chemical and substrate.
If you want to check the concrete cone failure, then an unconfined test setup has be done where the legs of test equipment are a bit further away from the anchor itself. For that, you may need to proof test using HAT 28 anchor tester. Alternatively, you can also book in a Hilti anchor test using this link >> here.

I hope this answers your question.
Kind Regards,
