1) WHAT GRADE is the HIT-V-R?
2) Can the HIT-V-F be Gr 8.8 ? (ie, I specifiy Gr 8.8 explicitly as well as HIT-V-F) - (I know you say Gr 5.8 but we can get galvanised Gr 8.8 bolts thus the question whether Hilti Rods can be galv Gr 8.8)
HIT-V rods are standard commercial threaded rods with a clean finish on the top so that easier for nut to be screwed on. It comes with the following types
- HIT-V 5.8 - carbon steel 5.8 (500 Mpa nominal tensile strength and 400 Mpa yield strength)
- HIT-V 8.8 - carbon steel 8.8 (800 Mpa nominal tensile strength and 640 Mpa yield strength)
- HIT-V-F - Hot dip galvanised coating 5.8
- HIT-V-R - stainless steel rod
Hi CaSE-R,
Thank you for your question.
To start answering it, I have to let you know that the HIT-V rods family is not being supplied in Australia anymore, as we have transitioned to the HAS-U rods portfolio since 2020.
The HAS-U rods are universal rods that can be used not only with injection chemicals, such as HY 200-V3 and RE 500-V3, but also with our capsule system, the HVU2, due to the chisel tip of the rod that allows perfect mixture of the capsule components.
That being said, the HAS-U rod is available in HDG, grade 8.8, as show in our website (link: HAS-U Anchor rod - Anchor rods and elements - Hilti Australia).
For more information on the types and grades of our rods available, please refer to the image below:
Please note that there was no change in material composition or in expected performance between the HAS-U and the HIT-V rods. At this point, all of our ETA approvals are updated with the HAS-U portfolio.
