embedment depth with threaded rod

I need to use M12 threaded rod grade 8.8 and set the embedment depth to achieve required tension loadings (fails in concrete breakout/pullout). I am looking to use either HIT-HY-200R or HIT-RE 500V3 and the ETA shows Hilti meter rod AM (HDG) 8.8 is available but the software won't allow me to set embedment depth into 32MPa concrete footing.

Hi Ray,

With regards to your query, please be advised that M12 threaded rod for use with either HIT-RE 500V3 or HIT-HY 200R have specific embedment depth ranges that they are tested to. Also known as effective embedment depth ranges as highlighted for each product. Outside these ranges would effectively mean outside the approved values of usage.

PROFIS Anchor limits the effective embedment depth of any anchor to a maximum of 20 times the diameter of the anchor. This is based on the limit specified in the relevant post-installed anchor standard AS5216:2021. The reason for this is that once we start to go deeper than 20*d_nom, then we start to extend beyond the scope of anchor theory. The theory assumes a constant stress distribution of the bond between the anchor and the concrete, however extending the embedment depth means that we can no longer make such an assumption.
