Hi There, I was wondering if there are specific limitations for the installation of drill and epoxy anchors adjacent to cast in anchors that are not being used. Is there a minimum clearance required between the cast in anchor and the hole of the new anchor? If this is within close proximity, should a reinforcement lapping calculation be completed in lieu of an anchor claculation?
Hello Elliott,
Thank you for reaching out to Hilti.
When installing, post installed anchors in a close proximity to cast in anchors, a minimum spacing of 3 x bore hole diameter of post installed anchor needs to be maintained. If that is the case, then the anchor can be loaded as per the calculated capacity. However, if your spacing is less than that, then the reinforcement lapping calculation must be calculated (tension resistance should be reduced). Ultimately, the final decision is up to the engineer of this project.

Hope this helps.
