Design capacity of anchors with less than minimum spacing

Hi
Could I please get advise on the reduced design capacity for threaded rod anchors closer than the minimum spacing stipulated in the manual and software? I have an application that requires 4-M20 HAS-U + Hit-RE 500 V4 anchors at 78 mm (refer attached) which is less than the minimum 90 mm specified in the handbook.
Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for contacting Hilti.

The data shared in the ETA (European Technical Assessment) documents is based on the testing requirements for the different types of anchors we supply, and is directly linked to the results shown in those documents. Using RE 500 V4 with spacing smaller than what's provided in the ETA is highly not recommended as you would fall outside of the ETA and the standard used to calculate the different capacities at hand. You also won't have information to use for your design as we haven't tested our anchors with smaller spacing than what's provided in the ETA documents.

My recommendation would be to try and resize the anchor's rod to a smaller size which would allow for smaller spacing values as shown under Table B1 on page 14 of the approval document for RE 500 V4, ETA 20-0541, which can be accessed through THIS LINK.

Please feel free to call our customer service team at 131 292 and they would connect you to one of our engineering members to further help with your design.

Best regards,
Ask Hilti Team.
