Concrete cone pullout

Concrete cone pullout

Does this program account for the concrete that the anchors are going into if its reinforced as I know there is a reinforcement tab under base material but when changing those inputs it does nothing to the results. Is there a way to "untick" a box to ignore cone pullout?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for contacting Hilti.

In Profis Engineering, design is considered as per the relevant code selected. As per the AS 5216:2021 based SOFA on EN 1992-4, the concrete breakout failure occurs as per the attached image. The edge reinforcement selected by you does not have any effect on tension concrete breakout failure.

You can model your reinforcement present in the existing concrete in Eurocode considering supplementary reinforcement.

Eurocode 2-4 allows the use of reinforcement to prevent failures by concrete breakout.

Supplementary reinforcement for tension

Supplementary reinforcement for tension should be specifically designed to prevent concrete cone failure. The reinforcement must have enough length both inside and outside of the concrete cone, to ensure transfer of tensile stress.

Supplementary reinforcement for shear

This reinforcement should be specifically designed to prevent the breakout body caused by shear forces in the anchors and have enough length, both inside (l0) and outside (l1) of the breakout body to ensure the transfer of forces.

PROFIS Engineering carries out the verifications of steel and anchorage inside of the breakout body, per EN1992-4. Please verify the load transfer from the supplementary reinforcement to the structural member outside of PROFIS Engineering.

Note: When installing post-installed anchors with supplementary reinforcement for tension and shear, the rebars should not be drilled through.

I hope this is helpful.
