Hi Hilti Team,
We are looking for a safe design using HIT-HY 270 HAS-U 8.8 M16 in a hollow normal weight concrete brick Hbn4 base material.
The following are the design loads:
Fx = 5.01 kN
Fy = -5.14 kN
Fz = -2.42 kN (downward)
Mx = 0
My = 0
Mz = 0
We encounter pull-out failure and brick breakout failure even if the size of wall plate is already 500x500mm. We noticed that the number of anchor bolts is limited to only 4pcs for this type of base material.
We need your expert advise if there are ways for safe design with the above constraints. Or if
there is another solution to solve the problem.
Attached herewith is the design soft copy as reference.
Hello Benjun,
Thank you for reaching out to Hilti.
Due to the high load values and stringent base material properties, design cannot be qualified as per the given parameters. Moreover, as per TR 054 Cl 4.2.4, we only have testing results for double and quadruple anchors per baseplate. Also, as you can observe the failure is due to the base material and not the anchor. Hence, as per the given parameters the maximum loads that can be achieved are as follows:
Fx = 1.7 kN
Fy = 1 kN
Fz = -1 kN (downward)
Thus, depending upon the application, you can reduce load and have multiple baseplates.
If you’d like to discuss your design in further
detail, please feel free to contact our engineering team >> here.
Kind regards
