Anchor forced into connection

Anchor forced into connection

We have a project where a sub-contractor has incorrectly located and installed the chemical anchors for a baseplate and had to force them approximately 15mm into position to fit the steel baseplate over. Will the anchor capacity be affected by this? I believe they may have forced them with a hammer. We are using RE-500 chemical anchors.

Hi Kurt,

Thank you for your question. If the anchor bolt (threaded rod) has been bent to accommodate the plate position, there are a few things we need to be mindful of

  1. Potential damage to the anchors bond
  2. Bending on the threaded rod which may result in reduced capacities for steel failure modes
