fire rating metalic floor wastes.

We have a building that wont permit PVC at all , not even the riser fthrough the slab.
we have to install 2 x floor wastes open ended flush at floor level above and maintain metallic pipework throughout.
is there a solution for copper, stainless steel or cast iron finished flush with the slab on the top side?

Hi Nathan,

Thank you for contacting Hilti.

Hilti has approved firestop solutions for metallic pipe penetrations through concrete slabs. The solution selection will depend on factors such as required FRL (Fire Resistance Level), slab thickness and pipe diameter.

It's important to highlight that by having the pipe flush with the surface at the top, there will be an impact in the insulation that can be achieved in the system (the third parameter in the FRL) as no pipe insulation can be installed above the slab.

Please have a look at the tables 17 and 18 of the CP 606 RIR (click here) where you can compare the FRL difference between insulated and non-insulated metal pipes on rigid floors.

If you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support Team by filling the form in this page >> Technical Advice Services - Hilti Australia

I hope the above is helpful.

Kind regards,
