THE VUE ON KING WILLIAM, ADELAIDE

Application: Glass curtain wall façade installed with anchor channel

The Challenge

Standing at 85 metres tall and 26 storeys with an all-glass exterior featuring floor to ceiling windows in every apartment, VUE on King William is the very first residential tower in Adelaide to be adorned with a glass curtain wall façade.

The delicate and intricate wave design of the curtain wall façade required a high-precision and flexible, engineered fixing solution.

Our Hilti Solution

For the installation of the 6000 m2 of curtain wall, Hilti cast-in anchor channel was chosen in favour of traditional anchoring. The cast-in anchor channel system was chosen due to the flexibility it allows in adjusting the position of the fixings as required for each individual apartment balcony and the building’s unique folded glazed façade. The Hilti fixing solution includes 3,000 pieces of HAC-40 91/300 anchor channel and over 7,000 high strength T-head bolts.

Hilti engineers also provided technical advice and support instilling full confidence in the contractor and installers that the optimal solution was being chosen for this unique building application which is a first for the city of Adelaide.
